Only just recently we mentioned R-Type 128K the overhauled shoot em up for the Amstrad CPC. Well here comes another one that we just have to feature, an arcade hit by Taito, first released in 1986 and later ported to home computers and consoles. It's Bubble Bobble, or as in the case of this fine remake Bubble Bobble 4CPC!
Just like R-Type which suffered from a very lack luster port this was another game that seriously needed a good overhaul, one that would both benefit the game and be as close as possible to the Arcade brilliance of the original title while looking rather impressive on a CPC. And so, thanks to CNGSoft in late 2011, they released the remake with the purpose of running the game on any CPC machine, while staying as faithful to the original but within 48 kB of code and data.
But the developer didn't just remake it, he made it look almost as good as the original Arcade classic, while staying to true the 8-bit form. Bubble Bobble 4CPC features very colorful graphics, 100 stages, an impressive intro screen and bigger sprites all the while remaining smooth and easy to play.
Assume the role of a cute green dragon whose single weapon is his bubbling breath, defeat enemies by blowing them up as bubbles and catch lots of fruit in a retro remake that will always be remembered as one of the best ever to be released on the Amstrad CPC
no cdt available?? does it run on a 464?? I like your site!
