Wings of Saint Nazaire - Space combat with a Wing Commander and X-Wing vibe gets a demo

When it comes to Wings of Saint Nazaire, It's not often I say this, but WOW! This could be a real contender to the classic Wing Commander games that we remember so well. Developed by a team of people such as Howard Day, Jan Simon, Duncan McPherson and Daniel Hoffman, Wings of Saint Nazaire is an action-orientated space simulation game reminiscent of titles such as Wing Commander™ and the X-Wing™ series. Featuring great graphics, modern lighting effects and cool weaponry, Wings is an easy to play and an enjoyable experience that you really should be keeping a close eye on while it's in development. You'll also be pleased to know that the developers have released a Demo

Pixel Maverick Games has once again given us the candlelit heads up about Candlelight, their new platform-adventure that stars you as a candle, in an adventure to bring the light back to the land.  You'll be travelling across the landscape battling through rain, wind, lava, TNT and everything else that might put your light out in a game that has both charm and cool lightning effects. Although the developers have stated it's nearly in Alpha state, the graphics have come a long way since it's early days and it's looking to be a platform-adventure that I can't wait to be a part of.

Retaliate - Free Shoot em up with a difference for Android

I do love a good Shooter, especially when it changes the style of game play and has waves and waves of deadly enemies that have to be destroyed. So here comes Retaliate by the developers Romans I XVI, that comes with a unique idea. Unlike other Shooter based games, you start with no ammo and must absorb your enemies' ammo and use it back against them in retaliation while avoiding getting blown up.

Memoirs of a Spectrum Addict - Feature film growing up with the ZX Spectrum

I'm not usually one for featuring books or films, but when it comes to anything gaming retro, especially of the 8-bit era I'll most likely give it the thumbs up. Well just recently I was contacted by Andy Remic who is a Novelist and ZX Spetrum fanatic with 16 published books, about his new feature film (110+mins) that's currently running an Indiegogo campaign which is based on Andy Remic’s memoirs growing up with the ZX.

Here on IRN we often get the odd mash up game where two games are mixed together to make something slightly different, and thus today Suni Games has just let us know about a new pinball game called Pinball Invaders Retro that blasts it's way into the world of Space Invaders. For all the fans of the retro game and especially those that like Pinball, this is a great title that delivers both the arcade fun of the original Space Invaders while adding the sporty ball bouncing fun of a Pinball game. WinUAE 2.8.2 Beta 1 - The latest Amiga emulator beta release!

The last time I spoke to Toni Wilen the creator of WinUAE I suggested to him that he really should have a holiday, there's not a month goes by that Toni isn't updating the Amiga-PC Emulator WinUAE with lots of bug fixes and new improvements. Sure enough, today Toni has released another update, WinUAE 2.8.2 beta 1, which contains many many bug fixes from the previous final version of 2.8.1. Usually I recommend people updating to the latest, but this time I would recommend you hold back, especially if 2.8.1 is working fine. But enough about that, for those that do want to update, here is the change log.

The Charm / The Chard - Brilliant ZX Spectrum game available for free

One of the things that makes us unique over other sites is the fact that we do both Indie games and Retro titles, and The Charm from RetroWorks is very much a retro title. Originally developed in 1991 by Acme and Mikomedes for the Spectrum it has since been given a new overhaul by RetroWorks, which takes advantage of the 128k models with upgraded graphics.

Titled, Underworld Ascension, the developers will be bringing back the classic with some of the original team from the original franchise and headed by the original Underworld designer Paul Neurath. Golden Axe - A retro look back at a classic beat 'em up

Now where's my Horn of Mead wench? After playing Golden Axe, I am definitely feeling my inner barbarian. This great game from Sega was almost a world apart from the game we have come to know and love. Originally inspired by the 1982 film Conan the Barbarian (staring our old friend Arni), mixed with the Traditional Korean Folk Tale "Golden Axe Silver Axe" also known as "The honest woodsman", Golden Axe was intended to be an RPG game with ornate graphics giving an inspiring journey. Sega however, weren't keen on this idea but loved the character concepts. Since, at the time, the main money making was in the Arcade, Sega knew, they needed a game that had a faster pace.

An adventure game where you play as Pip, who is incarnated in the form of a cute-yet-brutal worm, that changes his appearance based on the actions of your choices, good or evil.
