After all these months of hyped up pictures and animated gifs, we were overjoyed to hear of the recent announcement of the Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight campaign for 'Tower 57'. Developed by Benitosub and the artist Cyangmou, with a recent heads up by one of our readers Alexh, 'Tower 57' is an arcade shooter inspirational love child of those gaming greats Alien Breed and Chaos Engine, which even today are still played on the Amiga!
Set in a dystopian future in which humanity has found refuge in self-sufficient mega towers and a government conspiring to keep its citizens subjugated. You play one of the six members of the team assembled by the Ministry of Information to investigate the growing reports of an impending invasion from the neighbouring Tower 57. Fight your way through deadly traps, creatures and obstacles, in an environment that is destructible from furniture, statues, lights and more. Everything leaving it's own imprint in a world of debris and bloody footprints.
Each enemy features its own distinct spawning mechanism, movement patterns, attack patterns, and weaknesses, so it's down to you to play how you want to play and use multiple weapons from flame throwers to rocket launchers and laser blasters to blast away your foes with incredible force. Play with friends in local co-op and combine your weapons for extra firepower, smash your enemies to pieces with a friend by your side. Work together and ultimately you will be the driving force against this invasion.
Everything about 'Tower 57' from the 16bit gorgeous pixel art, to the action and animation is just so awesome. I could go on and on about how I've been eagerly awaiting this game since the day it was announced, especially as it's being developed for the PC, MAC and Linux. We could talk about it all day, but it's best you yourself check out the Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight campaign and help it to a success of a €45,000 goal.
Watch out Chaos Engine, you've got competition as 'Tower 57' is here to blast you aside!
