Legendary C64 publishing house Thalamus have announced that they will be porting Lunark to the C64 and Spectrum Next, if the Nintendo Switch and PC/Mac versions are successfully backed on Kickstarter.
Lunark is a great looking cinematic platform game currently in development by Johan Vinet of Canari Games. It's heavily inspired by Prince of Persia, Another World and Flashback and features those games' trademark rotoscoping animation techniques. The Kickstarter project was covered by us back in January and back then we only knew that the game was being developed for modern platforms.
Andy Roberts spoke with me earlier about the announcement:
"We've actually been talking with Johan (the creator) about the C64 version for well over a year and he'll obviously be heavily involved in the 8-bit versions."
Today Thalamus announced that they have secured the rights to make Commodore 64 and Spectrum Next ports should the crowd funding goal be reached. With 5 days left on the crowdfunder and more than 80% of the required funds raised, one final push should guarantee the C64 version's development.
If like us you're a fan of cinematic platform games, you can receive a digital copy of the modern version (PC/Mac/Switch) if successful for as little as $13. You won't get the C64 of Spectrum Next version by funding the Kickstarter, but you'll guarantee that Thalamus will make the port and be able to get it further down the line).
We're excited to reveal we're in talks with @CanariGames to bring their incredible cinematic platformer #Lunark to the C64 and Spectrum Next!— Thalamus Digital (@thalamusdigital) February 16, 2019
