Another high quality Shoot em up, but this time with Cats! It's Aqua Kitty : Blast your way through level after level of fast paced, horizontal scrolling underwater action in HD 720p Hand Drawn, 16bit era styled graphics. Each level is a branching map progression, while varying sea depths subtly affect the Shoot em up style gameplay. Although this is a PSN title, they hope to port it back to the PC if the interest is high enough, thanks to Steam Greenlight this may be the case. The game is being developed by a 2 person team of experienced developers: Art by Dugan (the artist for games such as `Stealth Bastard`, `Gravity Crash` and `Rock Boshers`). Code by Gabor.
Explore the underwater depths and destroy other enemies with combo kill modes from your dual firing submarine. Thankfully you can recharge your secondary weapon and upgrade it through game progress, but make sure you manage this carefully. Aqua Kitty even has a depth based power up system that gives partial control on the type and location of the power-ups created (allowing tactical advantage). What's more, this kick ass Shoot em up even has an awesome chiptune music soundtrack which takes us back to the C64 and Amiga days.
The story makes me chuckle and it's an usual one for a shoot em up. Apparently, due to a sudden shortage of milk, cats around the world are forced to seek out new sources to get their fix. You and your team of milk mining kittens have overcome a fear of water to drill down under the ocean seabed and begin extracting vast reserves of what seems to be naturally forming full-fat milk. But you are not alone, defend yourself against disruptive sea creatures. Makes you wonder if there are under water cows too ;)
Either vote this up via Steam Greenlight or your PC Cats won't be drinking anymore milk today !
