Toni Wilen has released the latest beta 2.6.0 Version 3 of this amazing Amiga Emulator WinUAE. Which enables us to play Amiga games on windows. We are not long since the previous final version of 2.5.1, however after testing a few games with this new version, they are now working so much better than before!
Eye of the beholder AGA version
That's right, Eye of the beholder 1 and 2 AGA versions are both now working smoothly. Updated graphics and a full auto map for this brilliant retro Dungeon Crawler. Previously, the game was pretty much unplayable on all Winuae releases. The menus were very laggy, crashed a number of times and the Intro would stall. But not anymore.
Also, as before, you can even have an Amiga Os on your Windows PC, I myself have two operating systems installed, ClassicWB being my favourite :)
So let's see what's been updated!
Beta 3:
- Programmed display modes disable normal DMA start/end display limits. (NetBSD AGA console screen)
- ATAPI CD emulation compatibility improved, should fix detection problems.
- IDE HD emulation returned corrupt data if 2 drives enabled at the same time (b2).
- CD image mounter crashed if CD image selection was empty. (b2)
MMU status:
68030 MMU works the best, may still have some rare issues left.
68040 MMU has unknown bug(s). (NetBSD hangs etc..)
68060 MMU seems to have same problem (both are quite similar so nothing surprising) and non-locked read-modify-write status is not emulated, any instruction that reads and then writes to same address has special bus error status bit setup. This is not yet emulated, it is annoying to handle properly.

Also available are easy to install OS packages which again you may need certain legal files, but there is nothing more satisfying than having an Amiga OS running through an emulator. Further more, you can make separate installs of WinUAE by making a WinUAE.ini file in the same directory as WinUAE.exe. However make sure when you update, that you delete everything in the WinUAE.ini file(back up previous).
