If you like your video games with a touch of literary authority, then you cannot get any better than the critically acclaimed 'Longest Journey Saga'.
Dreamfall Chapters:The Longest Journey (not to be confused with its predecessor Dreamfall:The Longest Journey) is the third instalment in this point and click adventure game series from new company RedThreadGames; who are hoping that a successful Kickstarter campaign will enable them to create another fantastic instalment for the game series, which not since Lost have people been left so tantalizingly on edge with the plot holes and cliffhangers.
Dreamfall Chapters has rather big boots to fill and not only that, the developers are making rather bold claims to address some of the problems of point and click adventure titles in general, like the rather horrible or non-existent combat aspects of many titles in the genre.
"A lot of the combat [in Dreamfall] was awful,"
says Tornquist. "That's gone. I think the focus field was a misfire. It
was supposed to supplant the cursor, but it didn't work very well. It also
wasn't used much, which I guess was a good thing. In general, I wasn't happy
with the controls in Dreamfall. It felt clunky, particularly on the PC. That's
something we're fixing. With Chapters, we're doing something a lot more
intuitive. The current prototype already feels a lot better. The first time I
sat down to play it, I knew we were on the right path." Polygon interview
Hailed as one of the most beloved and complex females created in the medium of video games (Step aside GLaDOS!), and with excellent writing and storytelling, Dreamfall Chapters may very well set new standards for point and click adventure titles for years to come with its promise of improvements and whole new features for the genre.
