The announcement of the final version has been released for MAY 2013, but until then, here's another beta version of this great Amiga emulator WinUAE by Toni Wilen. As such we are now on Beta 18 with a number of fixes. This is truly one of the best Amiga emulators you can use for playing games, and for using an emulated Amiga OS. Lets see what's been fixed!
Beta 18: (Estimated release date: mid May)
- If config (for example default.uae) has keyboard layout A/B/C selected, it will be remembered as default keyboard layout for selected port, then if new config is loaded and it has non-existing device (for example unplugged gamepad), port is configured for remembered default keyboard layout instead of always defaulting to layout A.DOWNLOAD
- Patch stupid CD32 ROM CD drive detection CPU delay loop if configured for non-approximate CPU speed modes.
- Validate RTG blit parameters more carefully to prevent invalid memory accesses if program(s) do bad things.
- winuaeenforcer disassembly crashed due to recent debugger changes.
- B15 sprite emulation update caused graphics corruption if display window was "too wide". (Himalaya / Avalanche)
- Mention also Administrator privileges in real harddrive/memory card "block zero write failed" messages.
- Modified emulation of ddfstrt/ddfstop value pairs that cause display corruption on real hardware due to bitplane dma being active too long and conflicting with refresh/strobe slots, prints log message.

Another great alternative if you have the games and system files is FS-UAE which is a pretty damn awesome frontend that uses WinUAE at it's core. They also have a game database which you need to register for, as it's currently in Beta, which shares everyone else s working configuration files for easy Amiga game loading.
Also available are easy to install OS packages which again you may need certain legal files, but there is nothing more satisfying than having an Amiga OS running through an emulator. Further more, you can make separate installs of WinUAE by making a WinUAE.ini file in the same directory as WinUAE.exe. However make sure when you update, that you delete everything in the WinUAE.ini file(back up previous).
- We will not provide Amiga retail games or Operating System files
On an almost unrelated note, as from next week I'll be the proud owner of my SECOND Amiga, an Amiga 1200 with CF installed!
