I for one don't usually enjoy tower defence games, so for that style of game to appeal to me it's got to be something special. But today my interest was given a prod when I saw Build & Battle, a turn based tower defence game with strategy elements that is currently going through a Steam Greenlight campaign.
The first thing that stood out for me was the retroish graphics, they could almost look good on an Amiga, plus the fact that the design of the game looks to be of medieval origin with fantasy elements. The developer also states that Build & Battle will have base building, resource gathering, unit training, tech research, a world map and un-lockable new designs as you defend your portal against enemy walkers and attackers.
Also to note the game is currently in a midway development stage between alpha and beta, with further features such as 5 large world maps, story campaign, magic orbs and a mac release planned.
All in all Build & Battle by Funtraum Games is certainly a turn based tower defence game that is worthy of a thumbs up through Steam Greenlight.
