What great news as Indie Retro News has hit it's first huge milestone of 1 million views! Over many years of posting the latest gaming news on certain forums, (originally just quotes) I had a dream to create my own gaming website, one that would suit both fans of the Indie scene and the Retro scene and reach out to as many people as possible. Thus in late 2011 Indie Retro News was born, although it did start off as just a bog standard blog with quoted news articles I wanted it to be something better, and that was to happen!
The original site design
Through the later months I not only changed the design, but wrote my own articles with a wider feature of games and even emulators. Although some AAA titles did creep through the net, IRN was dedicated to both the old retro and the new indie listing and it's stayed that way ever since.
What did need to change though was through all the months of writing, Indie Retro News needed help, there were times when I through disability could not write day after day, night after night - we were getting so many developer emails it was starting to overload me. But it was not long after that a new team of writers joined the site, a team that not just enjoyed visiting but had a deep fondness for games.
Another huge plus is the fantastic friends I've made a long the way, not just our staff of writers and host admin, but all the developers, affiliates and bundle friends, what a great bunch of people they all are :)
For the future of Indie Retro News, I hope to have more writers posting the latest gaming news and to be well much bigger than we are now, still early days yet!
Cheers - David, Emile, James, Illisia, Alistair, Alex, Orc-Chief, weekendwastemonster and the rest of our gamer staff!
Note to self, get a new keyboard as well!
