It's been awhile since we've featured Cinemware's classic revamp of the WW1 arcade flight game, Wings and today we've just had a press release that not only shows off the latest in game screenshots but also news of the Amiga emulated, Android, iOS build version. In a recap, Wings was an all time classic WW1 flight Simulator intermixed with arcade bombing runs that was released in 1990 for the Amiga, later also ported for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, it was a true gem for it's time and is still highly regarded as one of the best WW1 games ever developed. Wings: Remastered is a revamped version of the original that will feature far higher graphical capability of the original, while still keeping to the original game play that made the original so great. Wings: Remastered was also a Kickstarter success and we at Indie Retro News have been following it's progress for some time, so read on for the new stuff!
According to the developers a beta build is not far off and the team is pushing hard through it's development stage as they have stated on their Kickstarter page :
The team keeps pushing ahead on development, and they have now breezed past the Alpha stage: all missions, content, core features, music, sound f/x and art are in the game now, so from this time on our focus is on playtesting, polishing, checking & rechecking and ensuring Wings: Remastered Edition is up to all your expectations! A Beta build is not very far off (actually we are very close to it!), and therefore all backers who have pledged at the$55 INTERNATIONAL WINGS PATRON OF THE 56TH level and above (you know who you are!) will get to playtest the game and help us ensure it's a great experience!Hopefully we will have the final build by the end of this summer, but that does depend on the progress of the beta and any issues that arise, still though it's looking good so far!
Regarding the Android, iOS version, Cinemware has stated that the progress on the development of the emulated version of the original Wings for iOS & Android is very far along! The game is already running on both platforms, and the team is currently working on the save game feature to make the game perform exactly like the original. So that will be well worth waiting for, for you Android and iOS owners, just check out these screenshots!
I'm ready to earn my wings, are you?
