We fuse aspects of 16-bit classical RPGs such as Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and Final Fantasy, with a highly stylized, modern vision by using dynamic lighting, physics, and audio engines along with swapping between 2D and 3D perspectives. Our goal is to create a "next-gen" 2D RPG in terms of gameplay, graphics, and audio while still remaining true to the games that inspired us to become developers. We are gamers making a game for other gamers and our motivation is to create the game that we had always wanted to play growing up.
Elysian Shadows Team have also stated that Elysian Shadows will have a blend of chip tunes and SNES/Genesis era synthesizers with modern gear and effects, so it gives that nostalgic feeling while bringing a new modern feel. Another nice addition is the 3D positional audio that changes style depending on the moment in game play.
With a modern idea of dynamic lighting, physics and an updated 3D audio engine, Elysian Shadows is certainly looking to be a fine RPG game with new features while remaining true to it's classical RPG roots.
The developers are aiming for a $150,000 goal and area already at $91,185 with 20 days to go. So come on gamers, lets give it that final push to a success.
