Impact Winter - Frozen wasteland survival RPG starts its kickstarter campaign

Post-apocalyptic RPG's, you've got to love 'em. No sooner does one come along but then like buses, they come along in droves. DustBowl the other day and Sheltered a while back just to pick a few of the most interesting ones recently. But Mojo Bones is aiming to drop a bomb (well a meteor, followed by an ice age) on all that with one of the most gorgeous looking indie RPG's to come along in a long while. Meet Impact Winter.

Impact Winter is presenting itself as a survival RPG where the outside world isn't a desolate desert wasteland, but a winter WONDERLAND (insert tenuous Monsters inc. reference...) ahem. Where the game world is set 8 years after an Extinction Level Event Meteor strike, followed by a perpetual winter engulfing the planet in a perma-frost of dozens of metres deep snow and ice, leaving you with The Void to explore: a world where the largest of structures poke out of the surface. The survivors all lurk underneath in the buildings and artefacts of the former civilization, entering and exiting through what remains on the surface.

Your task is merely to keep you and as many of your rag-tag bunch alive for as long as possible for 30 days, when help is due to arrive...

Mojo Bones are planning something very ambitious with Impact Winter, the scope of the game is also reflected in the amount they are looking for in funding, and while there is far too much to mention here, my personal highlights for what makes this special has to be the fantastic art direction and the in-game "hacking". Your in game sidekick will have an old-school terminal interface with a RebOS command line. Many commands being discoverable items via other game NPC's or good old experimentation!

The development team have been through the wars too. This 'ain't their first rodeo! With many years of game industry experience between them, they have collectively worked on their own products and the following to name a few:
Re-Volt (1999)
Medal of Honor: Infiltrator (2003) – GBA
Armorines (1999) – N64
Matt Hoffman’s Pro BMX 2
Pac-Man World 3
Extreme-G 2 – N64 (1998)
and a love of the classics: Tetris, Secret of Monkey Island, Metal Gear Solid, Street Fighter II, Super Mario World, Turrican and ICO.

Anyway, enough of my waffling, what are you doing still reading... go back it now!
