Reformation - C64 Track remakes by Matt Gray gets a Kickstarter!

What a great year this is turning out to be, with the previous Kickstarter of the Commodore Amiga: a visual Compendium and now Reformation; a definitive set of Matt Gray C64 games soundtrack remakes, produced by the acclaimed C64 musician himself. For anyone that loves Retro and remembers the good old days, this is a re-visitation of his finest tracks enhanced with today's upbeat technology.

Already the Kickstarter is well on it's way to being a Kickstarter success and will feature not just a double remake album with around 18-20 of his popular tracks. But also  “Last Ninja 2” a standalone picture disk CD with a booklet containing the entire Last Ninja 2 soundtrack remade. An impressive album list indeed with many popular tracks such as :

  • At least 6 tracks from The Last Ninja 2
  • At least 2 tracks from Tusker
  • At least 2 tracks from Dominator
  • Driller
  • Bangkok Knights
  • Hunter's Moon
  • Vendetta
  • Maze Mania
  • Quedex
  • Motocross
  • Treasure Island Dizzy
  • And others

For anyone that remembers the 8-bit, the SID tunes, those classic retro gaming moments, you'd be foolish not to back this incredible Kickstarter

£20,597 pledged of a £25,000 goal and still 29 days to go!

  1. I loved The Last Ninja 2 music and this one track Matt released from it, is OK, but it's for the techno / dance music crowd. There's a reason why there's bunch of guitar interpretations of TLN2 music on the web. It sounded very heavy, very rock like, despite using only C64 synth. It was very different from most of the music at the time and I still like to crank it. This new version is a different animal, not heavy and dark at all... So... I'll pass. It's competent sure, but not very pleasant to me.
