How would you feel if you came across an old disk of a long forgotten point and click adventure that was the true successor to Maniac Mansion? Created right around the time of MM and LOOM or Monkey Island? Well the undisputed master of the genre is hoping to provide exactly that experience. Adventure Legend Ron Gilbert is teaming up with Gary Winnick once again to create what promises to be a masterclass of the genre in "Thimbleweed Park" to be "like opening a dusty old desk drawer and finding an undiscovered LucasArts adventure game you've never played before."
Fat pixels? CHECK!
S.C.U.M.M.? OF COURSE! (Ron CREATED SCUMM)
Multiple character viewpoints? YOU GOT IT! (x5)
Tricky Puzzles with mind bending outcomes? C'mon... do I... HELL YEAH!
16-colour EGA graphics? YEA... erm NOT A CHANCE!
I personally cannot wait for another Gilbert/Winnick adventure with Monkey Island (1 and 2) and Day of the Tentacle being in my personal top games of all time, and this is aiming to be the real spiritual successor to Maniac Mansion.
If you're a fan of the genre, and played any of the Lucasfilm games on 16-bit machines then it's quite likely you pirated at least one of them (Come on, admit it. You did. It's OK, you were young, penniless and everyone else did it at the time too...) well now, even if you want nothing to do with this new game, Rob and Gary are offering you ABSOLUTION!
Yes, for the $25 backing tier:
"I pirated Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island when I was a kid and I feel bad!" This reward tier instantly absolves you of all guilt..."So there you go, you now have no reason NOT to back this project ;)

Wow. Too bad they didn't think about earlier but still I'm sure they will get the money. Broken Age was more like a Broken Dream to me, but this looks like it might actually work.
