Cinemaware spoke to me today and confirmed the unreleased 1990 Sega Mega Drive version of It Came From The Desert will be available for pre-order as of early 2015. “It Came From the Desert: The Action Game – Extended Cut" is an action-based offshoot to the award-winning Amiga classic "It Came From the Desert with a brand new intro-sequence, new cutscenes, a new ending sequence and additional gameplay elements. What's more the limited edition will contain an authentic case with slipcover, manual, a real cartridge and mini-poster.
It Came From The Desert was originally going to be a retail release in 1990 for the Sega Genesis/Megadrive and featured an action shooter genre, which was completely different from the original adventure home computer release such as the Amiga. You also played as a teenage pest controller (not a scientist), Buzz who had a bunch of bug busting equipment at his disposal.
It's a shame the game didn't get released officially as it would've been nice to play a more action orientated game than the original adventure version. Still though all is not lost as with today's news we could well be playing that un-released version next year on our Sega systems.

You can soon pre-order the game from the website and also look forward to a more in depth feature from us very soon!
Ants FTW, but I couldn't get into this genre. :(
