Jimmy2x2x of EAB contacted me late last night let me know about his latest Amiga release that's a new twist on the Bruce Lee game. Unlike the great original 1983/4 game where you collected lanterns to progress, in this one hearts must be collected to complete the level. Every heart must be collected in a set time limit to completion and if you beat the World Records you can unlock Monsters to fight and extra game modes. You can certainly see the inspirations as even the short clip music brings back memories of a Bruce Lee hit, it's just a shame the music doesn't play throughout the game itself.
The graphics are also very nice indeed and shows great attention to detail, from the ladders to the backgrounds and character. However as a gameplay standpoint, I found the game to be too unforgiving in time limits as if one heart isn't collected, it's a failure. So I didn't enjoy the game as much as I'd have liked, yet for someone with more patience it would probably be a top class game. I'll say this though, if the developer spends the time to do a proper Bruce Lee Amiga release, I'll be all over it like a Kid in a Candy Store.
