Steel Assault - An arcade NES style experience gets a Kickstarter

Steel Assault is 2D side-scroller intent on being a highly difficult arcade experience. You only have one life and the game is one continuous level. A series of escalating difficulty levels and a focus on a tight no-cruft level design should lead players to want to repeatedly play through the game in an effort to do a more stylish run and compete with each other.

The team of Sri Kankanahalli and Daniel Garcia are just now launching their Kickstarter  with a modest goal of $8000 to help complete the game. The date listed for the game is May 2016 in which the team responsibly considers a worst case scenario so the game could very well come out earlier than that. The developers are also hoping for a big Steam Greenlight thumbs up, so hopefully a big success on both fronts!

I haven't yet had a chance to play the game so I can't say if the game delivers on its claims at this point in time but the team has been very good with updates as well as one of my favorite forms of media : animated gifs.

From the well made media, the new youtube trailer and their active devlog on tigsource it seems like this game has a high chance of NES inspired success. You can visit their Tigsource devlog here : http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=41313.0

Finally the game also has a soundcloud page where you can hear upcoming tracks to their songs : https://soundcloud.com/steelassault
