Bedrooms to Billions: The Amiga Years - A retro documentary Kickstarter success

Another positive note for retro gamers, especially those of you who remember the Amiga. As Nicola Caulfield & Anthony Caulfield's latest Kickstarter of 'Bedrooms to Billions : The Amiga Years is a kickstarter success raising £50,142 pledged of a £50,000 goal. The Amiga years will feature over 90 minutes worth of documentary footage that will explore the influence of the Commodore Amiga and how it took video game development, music and publishing to a whole new level and changed the video games industry forever!

We will start with the origins, design and release of the Commodore Amiga and the impact it had when first released. From then we will look at where the worldwide games industry was just prior to the Amiga’s release in 1985 and then how, once released, the challenges developersfaced creating for a 16-bit machine while still in many ways dealing with a thriving market for 8-bit machines. We will look at elements such as what happened as 8-bit was surpassed? How did the development teams grow and why? Who were the key developers and what were the key game releases? How did the business itself change for developers and publishers and did the issue of piracy truly harm this era?
As the creators still have 17 days to go, they still could do with some extra pledges to reach further stretch goals such as 30 mins extra worth of footage. So if you had an Amiga or want to know more about the Amiga, you can do no wrong by pledging for this Kickstarter.

  1. The docu looks very interesting, but showing Peter Molyneux is not, being someone who lies to their public he is not a good addition to any video game documentary.
