The story of the Commodore 64 in pixels - Chris Wilkins sets forth his latest Book kickstarter

Welcome to another Kickstarter which is hopefully going to have a very special place in the C64 retro gaming community. This is ' The Story of the Commodore 64 in Pixels ' by Chris Wilkins, who is also known for such detailed books as the ZX Spectrum Story in pixels vol 1, vol 2 and The History of U.S. Gold. With every book that has been released so far, each one has been packed full of reading material such as interviews with the hardware creators, the game developers, a history of the hardware and lots of double page spreads of gaming goodness. With this latest Kickstarter that is aiming for a £20,000 goal, C64 owners may find this to be a very worthy crowd funding campaign indeed!

As for the project, which will have an article on the history of the Commodore 64, a feature on those games that appeared on cartridge,  art from friend Oliver Frey from Zzap! 64 and a look at the SID chip and giving recognition to the best the music chip had to offer. Chris Wilkins has also said that throughout his book writing and publishing, especially both Ocean and US Gold, he has come across some rather special Commodore 64 programmers and artists that have become a true part of the C64 way of life. As such many of them will be writing memoirs on why the C64 meant so much to them, including here in the UK and in the states.

Contributions include, Archer Maclean, Jeroen Tel, Jon Hare, Simon Butler, Kevin Normn, Chuck Sommerville, David Mowbray, Ben Daglish, Matt Grey, Tim Follin, Tony Pomphret, Peter Tattersall, Philip Oliver, Andrew Oliver (Dizzy creators!), Roger Kean , Oliver Frey, Chris Abbott, Paul Docherty, Boys Without, Brains, Steve Thomson and many more!

Further details include the cover of the book designed by C64 graphics legend, Steven Day or STE'86 as many fans know him and it will also have in its pages over 70 double page spreads of the best of the best of the games that the C64 has to offer with each double spread having a mini 175-word review.

So without sounding too much like a broken record, if you've ever read any of Chris Wilkins books, you are in for a serious treat with The story of the Commodore 64 in pixels. I have read all of his books and have always gone back to them again and again. So for a campaign of £20,000 and a hopeful release of Winter of 2015. This is one Kickstarter that both C64 owners and retro gamers should back!
