Ceresoft has announced through a Steam Greenlight campaign, their latest retro platformer of ' Axel the Penguin ', which is inspired by classic Sega Master System titles. Using the same 16 colour pallet as the original console, the developer aims to create the spritework and soundtrack of catchy tunes in that retro flavour, but featuring traditional platforming and puzzle solving with a twist. In this game you play as Axel, and must unlock doors to strange worlds and fight mighty enemies to rescue his girlfriend and return home!
Axel can spit deadly bubbles that can break open crates to reveal hidden treasures and knock enemies off of platforms. Be careful, however, as if you run out of water you run out of bubbles! Only a quick swim or eating delicious sushi can refill you water meter. Find the key to unlock the exit and proceed through bright gardens, dark caves, deep space and Egyptian tombs!
Featuring classic graphics, a very retro styled soundtrack, nostalgic platforming fun such as spikes, springs, teleporters and deadly enemies, lots of hidden secrets, and modern Steam achievements, this could well be the ideal game for someone looking to step back into a glorious era of gaming!
Coming late 2016 to PC, with a demo due soon!
