Well this came as a complete surprise to us, one we'd never thought would happen via Kickstarter. Is the very first Amiga game to aim for your pledges through a crowd funding campaign. Thanks to a heads up by Hernan of the Retrocidad FB group, we have been told this game is known as ' The ' Dream of Rowan ' for Amiga 68k by Amiten Software Inc and will be created in AMOS Professional and specifically in AMAL (Animation Language), running at 50fps.
According to Amiten Software Inc, ' Dream of Rowan ' will be a run and jump platformer set across 10 levels and 40+ sub levels with you playing as Rowan, that can levitate, fly, swim and much more while both avoiding and sometimes fighting enemies and big bosses. Also throughout the game he has to go through hundreds of obstacles and destroy powerful magicians and terrible creatures to rescue his family and friends, and save our world from the darkness.
As for the game itself, it will be done in low resolution and 32 colours optimized palette with music that is created with ProTracker in MOD format that pushes the Paula and Denise chips to their limits. As such they've been using a real Amiga with 68030/50mhz for development, but 2MB ram will be needed when the game arrives late next year.
As for my thoughts, it will be interesting to see if this game reaches it goal of €4,000 as although the Amiga community is vast spanning across the globe, will they actually want to pledge towards a paid game, considering how many free homebrew games are currently available. But again that's just my opinion, so lets see if they can smash that goal and we see further Amiga games coming from crowd funding campaigns
Also, for those who select the appropriate reward, they will include a PC or MAC copy
