Golden Axe II - Sega classic given the ZX Spectrum-PC treatment by Mike Hanson
In 1989 Sega released the incredible side scrolling, beat 'em up, hack and slash fighter ' Golden Axe ' for the Arcades and for the Mega Drive/Genesis. It involved lots of weapon swiping against enemies and big bosses, while calling forth great power and giving the player the choice of a multitude of different characters. It's just a shame that the original sequel 'Golden Axe II' only appeared on the Megadrive/Genesis, at least until now. Welcome to Mike Hanson's ZX Spectrum stylised demo of ' Golden Axe II ' for the PC!
Don't expect a huge game with multiple levels, but do expect a ton of fun for what is on offer in just a small one level demo. The demo might be a what if, but it's very smooth, looks fantastic ( apart from the black borders around characters ), and the gameplay is so precise you'd almost think it was a fully commercial game. I mean seriously, even the music was a joy to listen to!
Grab it now, you'll be glad you did.
