Through all these years of dungeon crawling most of us have experienced the tight corridor experience with dark beasts at every corner, with sword and shield at hand ready on the defence. This is especially true of classics such as Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder and Lands of Lore. However apart from the great game that is Hired Guns, there is also this more modern game ' StarCrawlers ' which is a sci-fi dungeon crawler as you build a crew of renegade adventurers on the fringes of space, taking jobs from megacorps to hunt bounties, sabotage rivals and conducting corporate espionage!
Developed by Juggernaut Games, StarCrawlers has been available as an early access title for some time now, however it has only recently been added to the GOG library which also gives you the 14 day refund guarantee. Also as a bit of extra eye opening goodness, the game looks as if it's unlike anything you have played before while at it's core still a dungeon crawler.
It features strategic battles against futuristic enemies with an innovative time unit turn-based combat system, procedurally-generated dungeons and events create endless replayability, a choice of allies, eight player classes each with unique abilities both in combat and when exploring, randomly generated weapons, armour and gear with upgradeable enhancements and easy to Hardcore difficulty modes and optional permadeath!
So could it be a worthy game based on a classic feel? It could be, however if you're unhappy you could always ask for a refund!
