Through last month we did two big hardware reviews for the Amstrad community, one of those was the DDI3 USB Floppy Emulator for the Amstrad CPC 464 and the other was The Amstrad CPC 6128 USB Floppy Emulator. Both of these hardware reviews were very popular and it's because of that, a good number of Amstrad users are now proud owners of these two devices developed by Zaxon also known as Piotr Bugaj. But the news of today is, the 6128 USB Floppy Emulator is going to be upgraded with a new sound board, which adds disk loading sounds, just like an original disk drive.
You see thing thing is with the original 6128 USB device, although a great bit of kit, it doesn't have any LED's or disk drive sounds to give you any indication that it is actually loading. So Piotr has now teased the first footage of a working sound board, which gives you that lovely floppy disk loading sound most of us want. However the problem I can see with this current design is how the speaker sticks out, which is very likely at some point to be knocked off by careless hands or if putting away from storage. But I'm sure Piotr will take this on board and sort something out.
Update : Since going live with this article, you can now purchase the sound module! But be aware, you will need some soldering skills.
