Whenever a game is announced by PlayWay, especially as a Kickstarter, it always ends up as a success, this was true for Hard West, The Way and now with 4 days to go, it is the same for ' The Works of Mercy '. Now putting aside the more softly approach with those games, the developer Pentacle supported by the publishers PlayWay, has gone all out with this one, as it is a psychological thriller inspired by the classics of the genre: Roman Polanski’s “Repulsion,” “The Tenant” and Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining.” Which means yes you guessed it, BLOODY HORROR! Not just any horror either as the games plot revolves around mysterious killings committed on seemingly random victims. Only this time it is the player who becomes the murderer!
According to the team behind the game, The Works of Mercy is Powered by UNREAL ENGINE 4, and it takes place in a photorealistic world as immersive as the real one. It lets the player get the very feel of roaming through murky locations and delve into the hero’s mind which is put to a serious trial. Basically a fully interactive environment, featuring the best elements of games such as ' Gone home ' while also allowing VR headset support!
All in all, The Works of Mercy sounds like it could really push the very depths of your soul and to do the most vile of evil deeds. So head on over to the Kickstarter and give it the final pledging as it still has 4 days to go! - Demo for all backers after the campaign ends.
