Last September I had the pleasure of representing retrogaming and the Southampton Makerspace with an Amiga 1200 at the first Southampton Game Fest organised by the Hampshire Gaming Hub. For their second event they've turned it up to 11 and have secured a bigger venue, with more exhibitors and more tournaments. So what can you expect to see at SGF2 and does it fit the indie/retro profile? Lets find out.
Tournaments
Most gaming tournament events feature well known AAA titles, and SGF is no different - 8 tournaments featuring Mario Kart 8, Street Fighter V, COD Black Ops III ZOMBIES and others will be held. But this year representing retrogaming is IRN friends Games You Loved hosting the Bomberman tournament for free!
New Game Demos
There will be various developers showing off newly released and in-production game titles for you to get your mitts on:
Nature's Zombie Apocolypse
88 Heroes
Rite of Life
Steel Batallion (original XBox)
Not Just Game demos
There will be several local retro game traders with a 5 table retro zone, gaming related crafting stalls and lastly but by no means least, a cosplay competition so get into your best gaming character for the day.
Due to the generous event sponsors, every entrant will receive free steam codes for 6 games and an entry into a draw for a boxed SNES.
So if you're in the south coast area this weekend and at a loose end, it'd be foolish to miss this one out.
