As I've said before, with the Amiga enhanced version, when I was a wee lad spending all my money down at the Arcades, one such game I used to love was that fantastic platformer ' Wonder Boy ' designed by Ryuichi Nishizawa. It started its life as a skateboard rock jumping and axe bashing platformer, that later became the adventure platformer with RPG elements ' Wonderboy in Monster Land ' that many of us know and love to this day. That same game later had a sequel called Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap for the Sega Master System and Game Gear, published by Sega. It is that very game, which is going to get a brand new modern remake for both PC and Consoles, developed by Lizardcube, published by DotEmu and in collaboration with the legendary series creator Ryuichi Nishizawa!
Cursed into a half-human, half-lizard monstrosity by the Meka-Dragon, a lonesome adventurer is facing the challenge of a lifetime! In search for a cure, our mutated anti-hero will explore the many traps of Monster Land... and defeat many stuff-throwing, curse-wielding dragons. How many more transformations can one hopeful body survive as it turns into a Lizard, a Mouse, a Piranha, a Lion, and a Hawk... The six different forms of our shape-shifting hero make up the cast of this non-stop action-adventure platformer!
From what can be seen by the teaser video for Wonderboy The Dragons Trap, the modern remake looks every bit as good as the original if not more so. The details are of course far beyond the classic game, with a much more cartoony look and great animation, with plenty of enemies to fight, bosses to bash, multiple character types and yes lots of coins to collect! - Thus I can't bloody wait.
