For many months now pretty much as soon as it was announced for the F64GC 2015: Adventure competition, we have been discussing the brilliant Caren and the Tangled Tentacles on the C64. It was released as a downloadable 1.1 version, and then later as an exclusive limited Caren and the Tangled Tentacles V1.3, the Commodore 64 - A Visual Commpendium 2nd edition kickstarter EasyFlash-cartridge. But now we have even better news as the Future of Caren by PriorArt looks far better than anything we've seen so far.
Caren and the Tangled Tentacles 1.3
Caren and the Tangled Tentacles was recently shown off at the Gamescom 2016 in Cologne, one of the worlds largest game exhibitions much to the delight of gamers who wanted to get their hands on this pretty fine adventure. But that was just a small taste of what the developers have in store as a smaller retro-oriented festival approaches mid-september in Germany and the developers are now talking about the future of Caren.
Firstly according to the team, the story will continue and wont be just a mere sequel, the entire game will feel different and hopefully much better than what is available now ( not that it's a bad game! ). There will be a small city map, all buildings and streets will be accessible giving the player a sense of freedom and even more characters for conversation.
But that's not all as there is currently a process of polishing up and extending the engine, with existing rooms needing an upgrade, thanks to 'in part' the feedback from people who have already played the game. Other such improvements include : no double click required with a quick-exit option part of the action panel and much more with a possible release in 2017.
This is not the end of Caren and the Tangled Tentacles, if anything this is just the beginning!
