Throughout the years there have been many game jams that have come and gone for gamers around the world to create a game specific to the theme. So if it's a Gameboy Jam for example, then the games have to look like a Gameboy game. One such jam which is still ongoing, the ' Halloween Jam 2016 ' really stood out, and it wasn't because of the amount of games on offer just 63 so far, but a developer by the name of Dejawolf has remade the 1986 NES game ' Castlevania ' using the Unreal engine.
As you can see in the video above, it's pretty damn impressive what the one man developer has achieved so far, showing just how close it is to the original game albeit far more modern. I especially like the graphical effects such as lighting and fog, but what really made my day wasn't hearing the music but those NES sound effects with each whip and enemy killed. It really does look like a decent remake overall, but yet from what I've read it does have its bugs and frame rate issues and may not be the full game.
Certainly a worthy end to today, but don't forget Castlevania wasn't the only game in the listing as there are over 60 of the other games still to try!
