Funnily enough last night I was trawling through Ebay and happen to come across a really good priced Amstrad tape of the Ocean classic ' Wizball ', which was released in 1987 by Ocean and coded by Jon Hare and Chris Yates ( Sensible Software legends ). This rather famous game also appeared on the C64, ZX Spectrum, Amiga and Atari ST, with music by Peter Clarke, although the C64 version was composed by Martin Galway. So you can probably understand why I just had to mention the latest news in regards to the ZX Spectrum 128k version, as thanks to a heads up by Mark R Jones, it has been hacked by Adrian Singh with a 1987 C64 chr set, 2 hidden tunes and 2 sound fx by Peter Clarke.
In regards to the gameplay, Wizball is set in the once colourful realms of Wizworld, where the bad Zark has stolen all the colour, turning the world into a dull grey landscape. It's down to you as Wiz to bring back the colour and return the world to its former lushness. Throughout the game you'll be bouncing about and then blasting sprites, to collect droplets of coloured paint to colour the level. Once all the correct colours are collected, the level is complete and it's on to the next!
And that's just a small taster to the game, so if you have an evening free give the latest hacked version a try and check out the additional features, this is one game you really shouldn't miss out on!
