This year so far has been very good for the Amstrad CPC, as we've seen a number of games that are either in development or have been announced as lost and found. Especially when it comes to games we've spoken about as Acolyte, Captain Fizz, Frogger(Deanysoft), Ninja Grannies and even Unpredictaball. But the Amstrad is about to get another boost in the homebrew department, as this week the #CPCRetroDev 2017 - Amstrad CPC Game Creation Contest has been announced. As in their words "the 5th edition of the retro game creation contest of the University of Alicante. This contest awards the best and most creative developers of the retro scene, able to develop the best games for Amstrad CPC 464".
#CPCRetroDev 2016
Every year we get a flood of games coming out of CPCRetroDev, ranging from some rather odd games, to some that would even be classed as a game that has commercial merit. Which is kind of understandable, as the competition isn't a slouch in its prizes either! As you can get anything from 100 € to the best music in the special mention, to nearly 300 € as the best game in the Pro Category. But if money isn't enough, the German enterprise RetroSpiel will award with a physical publication, distribution and selling of an extended version of games presented by TWO selected teams. So a most worthy competition indeed, and unlike other sites, Indie Retro News was born through the love of the Amstrad and many other systems in the 8-bit scene. So expect us to feature all the best games when they appear towards the end of the competition.
