Realms of Quest V - A rather eye opening RPG for the VIC-20 gets a BIG update

As we said before way back in 2014 developer Ghislain de Blois released Realms of Quest IV for the Commodore VIC-20 through the publisher Psytronik. It was another game in the series as a fine tribute to classic style turn based, party based dungeon crawlers of the 1980‘s, with graphics reminiscent of the early Wizardry games I-IV. If however you've played those games and want something fresh for the VIC-20 you'll be pleased to know Ghislain de Blois has contacted us regarding the current development status of the next RPG in the line up as Realms of Quest V.

A more in depth write up of the first announcement is (HERE), but for this latest update he has told us through our email that Realms of Quest V will be a feature packed game and from the look of it big enough for even Ultima purists to be happy with even a choice from 4 fonts and 2 graphical viewing modes.

The game will also feature over 215 character graphics to choose from with more still to come, 16 races and 16 classes, fabulous musical scores that are appropriate for what is happening on screen such as travelling or even combat, a BIG world map four times bigger than Ultima III, 20 cities and 200 citizens who can be interacted with, 10 player characters allowed in party with an additional 10 spaces for non-player characters thus allowing a party size of 20 characters, and possibly more yet to be shown.

As for the actual release of the game, the developer went on to say, Realms of Quest V may well end up being published into a physical format, with a printed manual, packaging and floppy disks, with System Requirements of a Commodore VIC-20 with 32K of RAM expansion, disk drive (game will be on 4 floppy disk sides) or SD card reader (recommended setup). The release date as of this time : Possibly end of 2018!
