When I was growing up there was a game I used to love playing with friends, whereby your task was to drop bombs and either blow up other enemies or your very best friend(s) in a maze like game screen. That game was Bomberman also known as Dynablaster, which was actually first released way back in 1983 by Hudson Soft and then published by Konami, with multiple ports appearing through the years. This latest news however is in relation to this awesome game, as after a period of waiting RGCD have released Bomberland as a free download for the C64!
Originally Bomberland was released way back in 2013 as a commercial clone to that of the classic game of Bomberman, with over 10 years of development thanks to the hard work of Michal 'Skull' Okowicki. The game featured not just high resolution graphics, challenging boss battles, tons of different enemies, password saves, game-changing power-ups, multiple play modes and an awesome SID soundtrack by Owen 'Conrad' Crowley. But it also featured a massive 2-5 player death-match tournament with an incendiary 36-arena single player campaign ( Huge for a C64 title! ).
So yes a brilliant game and a worthy addition to the C64 library, which as of this moment is completely free to download and play via a real C64 or an Emulator such as Vice! Something many of us have been waiting for since it was a commercial only title released as a Cartridge and or Digital Download!
