Another top quality announcement has hit our inbox, as moments ago we found out through the Commodore Amiga Facebook group, that a developer by the name of Marc G. Falconer is working on an external CD based device for the Commodore Amiga! Yes indeed with the unreleased CD1200 not making an appearance in our homes and hacking the internal Amiga not to everyones liking. Marc G. Falconer aims to please with his external CD Drive through IDE and custom based case.
According to the post he made in our group, Marc G. Falconer revealed the project late last night at the Amiga Retro Brisbane group meetup with his take on the unreleased ‘CD1200’. He goes on to say he is using a standard laptop drive, and custom case fully designed by himself and 3D printed by a friend at work. For those of you wanting proof of it working however, the video above is running on a stock Amiga 1200 with 020 and Blizzard 4mb ram expansion, with further plans to get it running with a CD32 emulator, and perhaps a future kickstarter if there is enough interest in the Amiga community!
