During 2016 and into 2017 Wayne Ashworth and Magnus had been developing a new game called ' Scourge of the Underkind ' for 1 Meg OCS Amiga's and above. It was shown off many times as a rather wicked looking top down arcade action game with coin and key collection that is very similar to that classic game Chaos Engine. Well after a number of developments that have been noted via the Commodore Amiga Facebook group, we are here to reveal with an exclusive video, just how incredible the game looks thus far including new features.
Video is rendered at 30fps, that number is capped by my rendering software and should NOT reflect on how smooth the game actually plays! The game runs perfectly smooth at 50hz on a 1mb Amiga 500.
As you can see by the footage above or linked (here), Scourge of the Underkind has certainly come along way from its very first tease. As at first all that was shown was a short clip and lots and lots of coin and key collecting without so much as a UI. But now fast forward to today and not only have they added a loading screen, but new footage from the Palace level show casting new enemies and traps, a new Dungeon level, a new map feature, randomised treasure chest drops and end of key locations, rare treasure scrolls, enhanced screens and shop features, and destructible walls.
So how do we go about getting this fine game? Thankfully the creators have told us, that this will be the Exclusive Special Edition that will be shipped with the A1200.net A500 cases, and for those of you not ordering a case will be able to order another version which will follow shortly after, featuring different layouts and bosses etc (it will NOT be a stripped down version! I cannot stress that enough!!).... So basically Scourge of the Underkind is an Amiga game you'll not want to miss!
