Now here's a blast from the past, a game based on probably the oldest mentioned game on our site ' Space Invaders '. Released in 1978 as an arcade shooter developed by Tomohiro Nishikado, your task was to defeat waves of aliens and earn as many points as possible, while trying to avoid being shot at or touched by the slowly lowering waves. This game however ' Cosmic Jailbreak ' which is based on that classic, is a lost and found C64 game recovered by Black Beard and preserved for release. A game which in itself was originally released on the PET and VIC 20 in the early 1980s by Commodore.
According to GTW in regards to this strange C64 edition that was found on a disk by Black Beard. The game is a sort of Space Invaders clone with a twist. The invaders are not invading, but are trying to rescue their criminal friends locked up in a prison at the center of the screen, and you must prevent them from doing so. And that's all we know so far, as even Games That Weren't was quoted as saying " What isn’t known just yet is where this conversion come from and if it was official or not. Was it potentially just a home conversion of the PET original?".
