For those of you who were really disappointed to find that Shadow Warriors on the C64 didn't live up to expectations and wasn't anything like Ninja Gaiden, might like this news update. As thanks to Per Ola contacting us recently, he has told us zeeWolf64 is working on a very decent looking version of Ninja Gaiden for the C64 complete with deadly enemies and levels. Although the developer does state " there is no timeline to the competition of this project, on a positive note however the Enemy code is currently the focus and he hopes by the end of this week the first level will have its adversaries".
Ninja Gaiden was released in Japan as Ninja Ryūkenden (Legend of the Ninja Dragon Sword) and as Shadow Warriors in Europe, is a side-scrolling cinematic action-platformer. Tecmo developed and published it for the NES. According to Lemon64 in regards to the C64 version however it was a disappointing "shadow" of the arcade original. With so much missing, a bit more polish and attention to the gameplay could have made it at least passable! So yes there will be a lot of people out there hoping that ZeeWolf's development is a true Ninja Gaiden C64 experience.
