Manic Miner: Trick or Treat - A creepy Halloween Mod for the original Matthew Smith classic!

Even more awesome games to get through this week, as we've recently been informed through Facebook that the all time classic of 'Manic Miner' by Matthew Smith, which was originally released way back in 1983, has been re-released as Manic Miner: Trick or Treat for the ZX Spectrum. A brand new Halloween Mod by none other than Highriser. To coincide with this latest news story, Saberman has done a gameplay video showing Miner Willy using a torch in hand to light his rather dangerous surroundings.

New Video!

Here is what the website says about this new game hack for the ZX Spectrum: "Manic Miner: Trick or Treat is a Halloween Mod for the original Matthew Smith classic. It can be played on any emulator or machine that supports ULAplus, an enhanced colour mode that is available on some emulators, clones and the ZX Spectrum Next. It will not work on a regular Spectrum. This mod adds a  flashlight effect to the game that gives it quite the spooky atmosphere. Two versions are available - the classic pumpkin version and the lurid green 'Silver Shamrock' edition. Each includes different music that was converted by Pedro Pimenta".

  1. This mod is already 12 months old. You should post a picture of the game running with ULAplus and not on a standard stock ULA. The screenshot looks broken. Go to www.facebook.com/groups/ULAplus for a better screenshot and for more information.

It's available on almost all emulators. Any original hardware or clone can also run it too if it uses a replacement ULAplus chip called SLAM+ or a ZX-HD add-on. Any regular Spectrum can use it with an upgrade. It is built into the Next, eLeMeNt ZX, ZX Uno, ZX Vega, ZX Evolution, ZX Prism, ZX Sizif-512, MiSTer N-Go, ZX128u+ and many other clones.

    1. That quote was directly from the game website, I was asked by the creator to post this "MOD" and was not provided ANY screenshots, if you have a problem with it. Take it up with the person behind the game - Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad to have featured this game at least in my "Spare" time
