Although many of us stick to real hardware, unofficial gaming packages from the likes of GamesNostalgia or TheCompany.PL, or a quick load up through software such as FS-UAE and WinUAE. There's still a rather large fan base who prefer using the commercial Cloanto Emulation packages such as Amiga Forever and C64 Forever. These packages as noted by Cloanto for the Amiga version "blend high-quality software and original content with the ultimate set of videos to chronicle and let you experience first hand the history, culture, challenges and passion behind the Amiga."
Well this news announcement from Cloanto is certainly worth a mention, as thanks to our good friend Liqmatrix giving us the heads up, we've been told Cloanto has launched the latest edition of Amiga Forever as version 10; a new version of the software which celebrates not just beautiful new visual features like Arcade mode, but Revamped Amiga Files, faster authoring and playback, FloppyBridge support, virtual modem, and much more you'll just have to see for yourselves!

'C64 Forever 10' was also released alongside 'Amiga Forever 10'. One important thing about Amiga Forever and why I have been using it since 2006 is it has all the Kickstart and Workbench licenses at your disposal which makes it very convenient to try out different time period games and software applications.

Not only is this one of the easiest ways to get into the Amiga, it's also a way of legally obtaining the official Kickstart ROMs.
ReplyDeleteI have the af9 plus. Is there a change log somewhere to see what has been added?

DeleteI love these old software updates to run on modern systems.

Adoro essas atualizações de softwares antigos para rodar em sistemas modernos.
Even though I mostly use WinUAE, FS-UAE, and Amikit... I still pay for the upgrade whenever they come out. I feel it's me doing a little part to keep things going.
ReplyDeleteIt should be mentioned that this isn't free, prices start from $9.95 for just 25 or so games..
ReplyDeleteYou are paying for legal kick start rom etc. Cloanto own Amiga os and firmware
DeleteYou can buy the kickstarts etc for 99 cents from Cloanto.
DeleteSearch for Cloanto Essentials.
Can't wait to order this, lifetime updates for £50, well worth it.
ReplyDeleteWon't be long before it gets "released" on your fav torrent website ...
ReplyDeleteYou could say the same about any piece of commercial software. What's your point? That we shouldn't support it?
