Bagman - An Arcade classic as an Amiga remake gets a beta download! [See Changelog]

Another Amiga heads up and no it's not related to Dread or Electroman :p, as we've recently been told by a good friend of ours, that Jotd's work in progress Amiga remake of the 1982 game 'Bagman', can be downloaded from the main website below as a beta test. This game is a GPL remake of the excellent Valadon Automation arcade game, dissembled so the guard movement is more or less the same, as well as elevators. A game that can be seen being played in this footage provided by Saberman.

The objective of the game is to maneuver the bagman through various mine shafts, picking up money bags and placing them in a wheelbarrow at the surface of the mine. The player must avoid pursuing guards, moving ore carts, and descending elevators. The player may temporarily stun the guards by striking them with a pickaxe or by dropping money bags on them when they are below the player on the same ladder. The player may move between the three screens which make up the level via shafts and on the surface (wiki).

Changes:

  • - fully playable with sound
  • - still a few issues to fix
  • - added music

  1. One of the most difficult arcade games I ever played back in the 80’s. Is this an update of the same game or a different version?

  2. It's supposed to be 100% the same as the original. It's not so difficult to complete the first level. Things get serious on the second level (which is the same only the bags are placed differently, and the guards are very fast). Super Bagman is much much difficult as it spans across 5 screens.
