Castlevania AGA - Upcoming Castlevania for the Commodore Amiga gets a fab demo update


Castlevania has been mentioned many times on Indie Retro News, with the highlight being the awesome Castlevania Spectral Interlude by Sanchez on the ZX Spectrum! But today news is super special for those of you who own a Commodore Amiga however, as thanks to another heads up by Saberman, we've been shown some brand new demo footage of the upcoming Castlevania fan game of 'Castlevania AGA'; An in development AGA Amiga version which is in the works by Dante Retro Dev using the excellent Scorpion Engine.

Thankfully this isn't a paywall demo exclusive, which annoyed a lot of people!

Here's what the website says about Castlevania AGA for the Commodore Amiga "A remake of the 1987 original but with visuals inspired by Castlevania Chronicles and other non-8 bit titles in the series.  The  goal was to provide a playable and pure version of the original Castlevania but with an Amiga flavor. Not a port of the Sharp X68000 or PlayStation "Castlevania Chronicles" game, it only happens to use many level tiles and sprites from that game because it's a practical rendition of how OG Castlevania would look in 16-bit or 32-bit".

  • Large update that adds stages 10 to 15, with many new enemies such as the sprite-segmented mini-boss, the reaper boss, skeletons able to get back up after hit, and more.

  2. This game seems to be coming along very nicely, always improving with each version.. The animation seems very snappy and responsive, and movement looks good.

    I have one piece of feedback, the music seems a little inconsistent, are these tunes placeholders or work in progress?

    1. Agreed! The game looks amazing so far, but the music is pretty horrendous. Even when it's not out of tune, the samples are pretty dire. For a game series lauded for the music, on a platform known for amazing audio, it's a definite miss so far.

  4. Please add multi-button support. Please remember that Amiga can support up to 3 normally and up to 7 with CD32 standard mode.
    And that holding button down to use weapon isn't that good idea, especially in sudden moments. Please add option to select how to use it.
