Snake and Rhino in the Sketchbook - A family friendly game for the MSX by ARC8

Another heads up for our Indie Retro News readers, as we've recently been told by Saberman, that if you head on over to the MSXdev'23 competition page linked below, you can download the latest 1 to 2 player game of Snake and Rhino in the Sketchbook for the MSX. A game that's described as a colorful puzzler full of situations to solve which will challenge your brain as well as offering hours of family fun. To coincide with this news, Saberman has done a video showing the game being played.

In brief here's what the website says about Snake and Rhino in the sketchbook. "This isometric viewed MSX1 based game revolves around the two animals helping each other to progress. Each have their own unique skills, as well as limitations, to overcome certain problems. Each level, called a world, has an exit gate where both protagonists need to pass in order to level-up. Sometimes the gate will be closed, though. It’s up to you to figure out the exit strategy to enter the next world, and eventually lead Snake and Rhino home.

  1. Very cool. Incredibly stylish! Looks beyond mapping to a pad though with so many direction buttons so will skip trying this one but it looks great.

  2. The music is "Passpied", stolen from Castlevania 2: Belmont's Revenge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkSccl350y0&t=1431s

    1. It is a classical piece of music by Claude Debussy, so it is not stolen (not by Konami and not by this game) as it is in the public domain…
