If you're fed up with all the Christmas news, then how about this news story that's just been sent to us by Saberman, it's S0Y's latest game development of 'E.D.F. Special': An early alpha tease of a new arcade shoot 'em up that's based on the original SNES version of Jaleco and created in RedPill! To coincide with this news, while the developer has provided some info about the game, you can see the latest footage of this proof of concept showing waves of enemies, different bullets, and the smallest of level teases.
And here's the latest about the game from S0Y. "Proof of concept inspired by the game E.D.F. from SNES and the arcade, it is NOT and will not be a port. It is an alpha version, so there may be bugs. New advances with new optimizations such as 32 colors with AGA features (24 bit color depth, AGA fetch mode, etc.), 020/14MHz, 25FPS, CD32 audio-tracks, 5 levels of parallax scrolling and finally optimizations in speed and performance under 020/14 MHz (Zener implementations)"
Requirements:
- - Normal version: Amiga CD32 with 1 MB of FastMem
- - CD32 Emulation: Amiga AGA with FastMem
Links :1) Download (Save Link As) OR 2) ISO CD32 E.D.F. Special-DEMO (.BIN + .CUE) 3) ISO CD32 E.D.F. Special-DEMO (.NRG) 4) Website
Is it me or does the game speed up when the clouds are gone?
ReplyDeleteNo lo vas hacer para el amiga1200
ReplyDeleteI need to mess around with red pill, that game isn't too difficult to imagine being made with scorpion
ReplyDeleteWhy this warning before the game starts?

Because the creator was upset with Saberman (Youtube) that the alpha version of the game wasn't working correctly in the video, even though he clearly said it had bugs/issues. I have no control over what Saberman does or how he plays the games. But he should've contacted him directly. Besides he's one of the best for Amiga videos and many people continue to use his channel :)
DeleteWell, I never waste my time on clarifying things on sites like this (I stopped visiting them a long time ago), but I'm going to make an exception, in what will be my first and last post here.
DeleteMy projects/games that I make as a hobby will not have my permission to post them here or on Saberman, as seen in the image above. The reasons, in the Saberman case, are those that appear and will appear from now on in the image and in the .readme of aminet and the game itself. The reasons, in the case of this website, are the destructive, absurd and meaningless criticism of RedPill to the detriment of excessive favoritism towards Scorpion Engine (fanboys?). Also because of the moderation of the messages, not at all impartial, since things like "RedPill should be banned" have been said and no reply has been allowed (censored for some interest...?).
I don't care if Scorpion Engine (paid for the FULL version) is better or worse than RedPill (completely free and FULL). I don't care if Saberman removes the warning image that I will put in my games in his monetized videos (as he has done with E.D.F. Special) or if he makes the videos favoring those from Scorpion Engine and "mistreating" those from RedPill. Those who download the game will still see those notices and see what this "gentleman" is about. In the end, time puts everyone in their place with their actions/inactions.
Will this message appear on the web? Will it be censored? My answer is obvious: I don't care
Finally: I do nothing but laugh at the user hidden behind anonymity, encouraging everyone from his couch to switch to Scorpion Engine (paid) and then not pay for the developments in it. This is the Amiga community today.
Byes.
As a developer you've got to take critism on board, if people hate your game and hate the game engine then so be it. If people love your game and the engine then so be it as well. I for one loved Baldurs Gate 3, but thought Starfield was an utter pile of crap hence winning no awards. If you developed Starfield would you stop PC Gamer from writing a review about Starfield because they didn't like it, NO? Red Pill is an awful engine and Scorpion Engine is vastly superior. I was checking your games you've made and I can't see any article that bashes your game??????????????????? I love this website and always gives me my gaming fix :DDDDDDDDDDD
DeleteI just saw your game on Amiga Bill's Stream S0Y straight from IndieRetroNews... Looks ok to me?
DeletePlease keep the discussion as mature as possible.
DeleteI think posting a video about your demo, is a good thing, the demo is downloadable by everyone, and the fact that someone makes money on it, monetising the video, should not concern you.
Honestly, I have never heard your engine disparaged, in favour of Scorpion, rather there has been a lot of good talk about it, because it has actually seen some interesting stuff, but if you think yours is superior, that's fine, show us what it can do, with the full conversion of EDF, maybe you'll change a lot of people's minds.
Hear Hear! Well said Anon. Seriously S0Y just move on and be proud of the fact that so many people on IndieRetroNews do like your games
DeleteI am trying to show the community as many new productions as I can - games for all the platforms, including Amiga. Never have I shown favourism towards games written in any programming languages or made with the usage of different game engines - such as RedPill or Scorpion. It's not my goal to criticize or judge games posted on my YT channel. I only want to show them as well as I can, while playing as well as I can (my playing is sometimes not top notch, as I am not a hardcore player). It was the same case with your game - I tried to show the gameplay as well as I could. I understand that you or anyone else might not like that I have got ads on on my YT channel or that I ask the community for possible support - but the argument that I make money on the channel (I spend all the donations I receive on the games I show to the community) or that I create biased videos to show the game in the bad light is, for me, ridiculous. I am sorry that you've added such a description in the game, I personally find it unfair, but that's your business. If you don't want you have your games posted on the channel (including this one and the ones you will create in the future) - I will not post them. Your loss, fewer people will know about them.
ReplyDeleteSaberman
First of all, I thank you for answering (other users have not been so lucky, from what they have told me).
DeleteSecondly, yes, I prefer that you not post videos of my games UNLESS YOU SHOW THEM TO ME FIRST AND I GIVE THEM OK, in which case there will be no problem with you posting the videos. Obviously, without modifying anything, not like in your E.D.F. video, where you had the audacity to edit it so that the notice did not appear.
Because? Well, because in one of your videos of my game Temptations, you uploaded it with graphical errors due to a version of WinUAE with bugs, giving rise to the wrong reality. In the IRN comments you were warned actively and passively, you did not deign to rectify or apologize. So please don't say my notice is "unfair". It is fully justified. Because of that (and because of other comments that I have already made), I stopped visiting this website.
If you are going to continue doing the same thing, you better not publish my projects. If you show me your video before publishing it and I give it the ok, you have free rein. It's as simple as that. And I will remove those notices from my projects.
I don't want to create bad vibes, really, without acrimony. We are few and we will be fewer and fewer, but certain attitudes don't suit me.
Anything on this topic, I will always answer you through my email, without problem.
Greetings.
Other users? The imaginary ones. Seriously, just move on dude
DeleteI don't follow the comments at IRN and I haven't seen your posts under previous games (Temptations). I have no intention of sending you any videos for approval. I will not be posting any gameplay from your games. This was the last gameplay from your game.
