Pang+ - An enhanced version of a brilliant Arcade game for the Amstrad Plus and GX4000!

In 1989 the Mitchell Corporation released the top of its class Arcade game ' Pang ', which was later ported over to a multitude of systems by Ocean including the C64, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum Amiga, MS-DOS and Atari ST. In this up to two player game you had to destroy bouncing balloons terrorizing global landscapes, but had to be really careful as most of them when shot split off into smaller but even more balloons! Now thanks to SyX and RedAngel, an enhanced version of this classic game, has been released for the Amstrad CPC Plus and GX4000!

Here's the latest. "Pang's version for the Amstrad GX4000 console is considered one of the best conversions in the well-known recreational. However, that does not prevent there from being no room for improvement. In this new version of Pang for the GX4000 console, which we will call Pang Plus, it fixes a few lump errors made during the development of the original version, as well as a spectacular graphic wash.

  • Modifications to the original code: SyX
  • Retouches and new graphics: RedAngel

  1. This looks amazing! I wish someone would do a similar glow-up for the C64 version, the balls in that one just look flat and rubbish :(

    1. It's not just a question of colours. The game works because of the cartridge storage and plus expanded features like hardware sprites. It wouldn't have been possible like this on CPC.

  5. It seems that some people writting comments here are thinking it's a new port to the GX4000/Plus machines. Pang is a an official game released in 1990. This PANG+ just enhanced (or try to enhance) the original GFX and code.
Personnally, I see that the real Mont Fujy replaced by the Kilimandjaro, background of Kenya with just different colours, makes at least its cameback. Nice!
After that, new GFX are nice, new colours are ok, but I don't see differences in the code. If someone has more informations about the news features.
