Right from the word go, we were one of the first gaming websites to give you the heads up about TIGERSKUNK's amazing Shoot 'em up of Inviyya; a game with amazing scrolling graphics, super action, great sound effects, and a real hark back to days of R-Type or Project-X. Well time has passed since its release, as this week the same developer has now announced a new demo to his upcoming fighting game that is coming to the Amiga called 'Krogharr'; a new OCS action slasher which was teased some time ago with just a few screenshots.
Here's what the website says about the game. "The evil Chieftain Pilsator stole the beer from Krogharr's home village, and now Krogharr is on a holy mission to retrieve what was taken, and bestow revenge upon the hordes of enemies Pilsator sends across his way. In development game for the Commodore Amiga, should work on each model with 512k Chip plus 512k extra RAM from A1000 upwards. Targeted release date is end of April".

Looks like a fun game. Graphically, it looks OK. The trees and bushes are drawn well, but kind of gloomy looking. The characters do look a little rough, but the moves look nice. But when you see OCS games like Ruff n Tumble, Lionheart or Metro Siege, this looks a bit basic, graphically.
ReplyDeleteI personally thing it looks great, not all games have to be Lionheart or Ruff n Tumble! The only thing I mentioned to the developer to change was the head chopping sound as it was too much of a happy tone lol. But he's going to change that. I for one can't wait till this game reaches final :D BRING ON THE CHOPPING!
DeleteThanks for the nice feedback, mate... I take being compared to the best looking Amiga games of all time as a huge compliment, so thanks for that.
DeleteI think the graphics are perfectly fine, it suits a game like this. This is such a style, a way of representation. It doesn't focus on pixel graphics, it's painting-like.
DeleteI like the graphics, but sometimes a bird in the sky or sitting on a tree branch would be nice. A few bushes, rocks, or sometimes a skeleton, referring to those who have gone there before and failed. If I'm not wrong, the sound of head chopping is only temporary. Now it's the same as the sound of picking up a bonus. I think a swishing sound would work perfectly.
DeleteI agree it looks great. It reminds me of Barbarian, Torvak the Warrior and Targhan, a sword and sandals genre game. Back in the 90s a game like this would have done very well. The beheading is great idea, may I suggest that when the head is chopped off, it does not bounce very far. Another thong I would like to see is the option to be able disable or enable the sword slashing effect.
ReplyDeleteLooks good but would add that the sword swipe graphics needs to change - being a solid fill does not look right, maybe should be transparant
ReplyDeleteYou are right. Changed that already now....
DeleteVisuals are nice, if a bit heavy on the cartoon theme. Could benefit from having a bit more variety in enemy patterns and variation in the terrain - dips and rises, things to jump on and climb, and a few different types of weapons - so the gameplay isn't too samey. Decent wip though.
ReplyDeleteWill be having different enemy behaviours to get some variation into the game...
DeleteGraphically looks very good, but it is quite repetitive.
ReplyDeleteGreat graphics and sound but, gameplay wise, too much basic for my taste...seems more a tech demo than a game! It's like the poor brĂ² of Ivanhoe....i hope instead in a gameplay more similar to Torvak or Lionheart,so fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteIt won't be a platformer game, so I guess it's just not for you then, my friend. :)
DeleteI like the playable Demo ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7RiFOT28S8
ReplyDeleteThe demo doesn't work on 68060 Amigas
ReplyDeleteWill have a look into that. Heard that a couple of times already. Thanks for the feedback, mate..
DeleteViva la Team17 e la Thalion !!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd Tiertex of course!
DeleteWhat causes all those graphics fragments around the sprites?
