Way back in the 1980's Gremlin Graphics released the very first Monty Mole game in the series for the ZX Spectrum and C64. This lovable character that looked like a cross between a human and a mole, star'd in his very own adventure as ' Wanted : Monty Mole ' , which from then on spawned a number of other famous sequels such as Monty on the Run and Auf Wiedersehen Monty. But today's news is pretty special if you own an Atari XL/XE. As Retronics has released the game for the Atari XL/XE with an improved game engine!
And here's the latest from the video description. "Auf Widersehen Monty" is a Jet Set Willy style chamber game. It was released in 1987 for virtually all popular 8-bit computers, except the Atari XL/XE (as was unfortunately often the case...). The Atari version is a reverse-engineered adaptation of the C-16, much like "Monty on the Run". Compared to "Monty on the Run" (MotR), the game features an improved game engine. Works in high resolution text mode with 32 columns. There are about 20 chambers, and each of them has been individually colored. The sprites are also colorful, which is unique in this type of graphics mode!"
Aweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssoooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmeeeeee!
ReplyDeleteIs it me/my configuration or is the download version missing the other colour modes?
ReplyDeleteare you pressing the keys 1 or 2 ?
DeleteThe standard machine offers "MONO'" and "PMG" color modes. The machine equipped with VBXE offers additionally the "VBXE" color mode. In order to have VBXE supported in the download version you need to enable VBXE in Altirra emulator (Main Menu->System->Configure System->Peripherals->Devices->Add->Internal Devices->VideBoard XE (VBXE)). Reboot and have fun..
