Roland in Retroacalant - A single screen homebrew celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Amstrad CPC 464

It's back to the Amstrad CPC for this news story, as we're informed by XeNoMoRPH a few days ago, that the previously teased Amstrad CPC game of Roland in Retroalacant by CapaSoft, has been made available as a digital download. A single screen Arcade homebrew that celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Amstrad CPC 464. To coincide with this news, we got both a gameplay video, and a gameplay description provided for you below.

And here's the latest! "The new title "Roland in Retro Alacant " for Amstrad CPC was presented on 09-21-2024 at the event of RetroAlacant VIII in Alicante. This game has been devised as a gift for Roland Perry on the 40th anniversary of the Amstrad CPC. You control Roland Perry, nothing more and nothing less than the father of the Amstrad CPC, but be careful, to fulfill your mission you must obtain all the necessary components for the manufacture of our beloved Amstrad CPC and take them on time to celebrate the 40th Anniversary in RetroAlacant".

  1. Loader is very nice but I think I would have preferred something simpler on this case, it looks like we have moder mode 0 that looks like a ST pic and then old school Amsoft graphics from 84 and simple typical gameplay from mid 80.

    1. "Would you like some caviar on your day-old bread?"
"Oh, no, put some cod liver oil on it instead because it would be too good with caviar!" :D
It's not because the game "isn't worthy" that we should deprive ourselves of such a beautiful screen!
I think nothing is too good to celebrate the Amstrad and, above all, Roland Perry!
      Good job bro !

    2. Well it just detract the game in my book, because indeed it's the game that worth it and never a loader. You just have to think when you release something.

    2. c64 person posted on an article about the Amstrad CPC to complain that you only do Amiga games? That's weird.

  3. (Looks confused and silent up at all the previous comments for a few moments before breaking free from it.)

    Uh.

Anyway, this looks super cute! The whole idea of it too. :3 I played so many Roland games, and Roland on the Ropes and Roland in Time are still two of my favourite games from that era, to this day. I will admit, to cherish Roland, I would have thought of a different type of game. Like, a blend of Roland on the Ropes and Android One, perhaps. Just one of these older games, but a better version of it. Maybe Roland on the Ropes with actually randomized mazes, or secrets, or different styles of mazes/caves, Spelunky64 style. Or a Roland in Time that takes some things from newer Doctor Who series and puts them into the room puzzles. :3
And I would have let Roland be himself. I know he's actually called by a different name on all other platforms, as Roland on the Ropes is actually just called FRED. But to me he is always gonna be my little Roland. :D
