Squarez - A new abstract arcade game released for the Commodore Amiga

Fancy something different other than the usual genres we've been posting about these last few weeks, then come and check out la1n.ch's endless top down arcade(?) game of Squarez. A new Commodore Amiga game which was created in connection with the CHLudens research project. A project in which the website describes as a research game that explores the question “Why weren't there more abstract games in the home computer era?”. To coincide with this news, we've got a bit more about the game, as well as some gameplay footage below.

And here's the latest. "Squarez is a demake of the Flash game SQUARES 2 (2010+). It is an action game and is played with the mouse. The game is very visually abstract. It is about rectangles. The player has to catch the gray rectangles and must not be eaten by the yellow rectangles. The game has different levels but is an endless runner at the end". And that's the game in brief, but for further information including the download and game development, visit the link (HERE)

  1. What a beautiful little game! A perfect example of taking a minimalistic approach to create something appealing.
