The Tower of Evil - An unofficial remake from the C16, plus4, C64, Z80 to Amiga

Another Commodore Amiga port to grace our home computer screens, is the unofficial and minimalistic remake of The Tower of Evil. A top down action game which wasn't just released from 1984 to 1985 by Creative Sparks, but there was a later unofficial port by artlace/rebels for the Commodore 16, Plus/4, ZX Spectrum and VIC 20. A game in which you play the role of Andros who was banished years ago by King Salimos and can only return when he rescues the kidnapped Princess Diana and finds the King's lost treasure taken by an evil Necromancer!

Here's the latest from ELECTRIC BLACK SHEEP via a reply under Saberman's video. "The story behind it was that we wanted to make a game for the 2024 Amiga Game Jam. It's main theme is 'The Sequel That Never Was'. As it is one of our most memorable game of our childhood we want to make an unofficial sequel of 'Tower Of Evil' (plus/4) on the Amiga (at least something very similar to that title). In the mean time the rules had been more detailed so that the sequel had to be based on an game already existing on Amiga".

"First we port it and then make a sequel. (I hope it's not considered as cheating.). So this game is ended up being a little "workaround" to fit the rules. As this was not the main focus it (sadly) it does not have the necessary changes. Adding a new look was probably not the best idea. :S  It is the reason why the original sprites are in it too".

  1. Awesome! Berzerk meets Gauntlet. Unfortunately never experienced the original game not having anything Amiga until recent years. Looks like one worth the download.

  2. bit of an anticlimax to get an ai-generated crapscreen followed by an msx looking gauntlet clone . But i always liked gauntlet tho, played it a ton with friends (and alone) on the c64 back when life was life

  4. Having a twin stick option would be great if not present already. Being able to move and shoot independently would take this to the next level, even if it's not fully true to the source.
